The role of liposuction in lower facial rejuvenation

Objective To evaluate the effect of liposuction in lower facial rejuvenation. Methods The liposuction was applied on 79 patients for lower facial rejuvenation, among them 45 patients received mere liposuction and the rest 34 had rhytidecomy in combination with liposuction. Results The follow-up period ranged from 6 months to 3 years. Among 68 cases, 38 of them merely underwent lower facial liposuction, 32 were satisfied with the results,6 obtained improvement. The rest 30 cases were treated by rhytidecomy in combination with liposuction. 29 were satisfied with result, 1 was improved. There was no complications of skin necrosis and facial nerve injury in all cases. Conclusions If liposuction is incorporated into traditional lower rhytidectomy, it has advantages of reducing surgical complication and increasing the effect of facial rejuvenation. Mere lower facial liposuction also has effect of facial rejuvenation. The method is safe, simple and it also has quick recovery, and inconspicuous scar. In summary, local liposuction is a reliable approach in lower facial rejuvenation and it is proper for wide application.
