Investigation of prevalent status of intestinal nematodiasis in Junan County in Shandong

Objective In order to realize the endemic situation and characteristic in Junan and provide basis for making further control program.Methods the control program was made based on the united method formulated by national human parasite investigation program.Results The total infection rate was 80.3%.There is no significant difference in the infection rate between males(41.1%)and females(39.2%)(P0.05). 4 species of intestinal nematode(Hookworm,Ascaris lumbricoides,Trichuris trichiura,Enterobius vermicularis)were identified.A person with 1,2 and 3 species of parasite accounted for 64.8%,33.8% and 1.5% respectively. The infection rates of Hookworm,Ascaris lumbricoides and Trichuris trichiura under 12 years were much lower than adults (P0.01)and the infection rate of hookworm over 40 age group was higher than low age group(P0.01).Conclusion the results showed that the intestinal nematode was one of main diseases,detrimental to the health of of residents.The effective measures of lowering population infection rate is to enhance healthy education,increase consciousness of control diseases,change unhealthy behavior and regularly treat parasitic diseases.
