Abstract

Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of ProTaper in preparation ofmolars’ root canals. Methods 84 molarswere randomly divided into two groups and prepared by ProTaper and stainless steelK files. All canalswere obturatedwith lateral condensationmethod. The incidence of instrumentseperation and post-operative painwere recorded. The efficiency ofprep-aration was analyzed with radiograph. Results In ProTaper group,92.4% of the canalswere achieved continuous funnel shapes after preparation, while 51.7% of the canalswere achieved in stainless steelK files group. The difference between two groupswas statistically significant.Therewasmore post-operative pain in the stainless steelK files group than in the ProTaper group(P0.05).Therewas no statistically significance of instrumentseperation between two groups. Conclusion ProTaper performed good shaping ability in molars’ root canals and generated less post-operative pain.
