Anti-inflammatory Roles of Ambroxol on RatsGastric Aspiration lung Injury

Abstract

Objective To investigate the anti-inflammatory roles of ambroxol on ratsgastric aspiration lung injury.Methods Thirty Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into three equal groups:Control group,injury group and ambroxol group.Wet-to-dry weight ratio(W/D) of lung,the glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Pxase) activity and the activity of superoxide dismutase(SOD) were measured;Tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),interlcukin-1β(IL-1β) and interlcukin-10(IL-10) of serum and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid(BALF) were examined by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Lung pathological change was observed by microscope.Results Compared with the control group,TNF-α,IL-1β,IL-10 of serum/BALF and W/D of lung in the injury group prominently increased(P0.05),the activity of GSH-Pxase and SOD decreased(P0.05).Compared with the injury group,TNF-α,IL-1β,IL-10 of serum/BALF and W/D of lung in the Ambroxol group prominently decreased(P0.05),the activity of GSH-Pxase and SOD increased(P0.05).The microscopic structure of the control group was normal and the pathological changes of the Ambroxol group were milder than those of the injury group.Conclusions Ambroxol has anti-inflammatory effects by restraining oxidative stress and the releasing of inflammatory cytokines on gastric aspiration lung injury.
