A Brief Investigation of Administrative Districts of Yangzhou in the Tang Dynasty

Abstract

More and more scholars today realize the important value of epitaphs. Based on some correlated materials which have been collected in Qiantang Zhizhai Cangzhi, A Corpus of Epitaphs in the Tang Dynasty, and A Corpus of Epitaphs in Sui, Tang, and the Five Dynasties, the thesis has investigated the administrative district structures of Yangzhou in the Tang Dynasty and proved by textural research the existence of the forty six districts in the region. The author also proposes several questions awaiting solution.
