Abstract

Although a series of results was obtained in oil and gas exploration of Luxiang fault depression in recent years, there is multi-source direction convergence in this area, and the division of sedimentary system is unclear. However, the classical provenance analysis method is complicated with poor reliability. The authors made cluster analysis on relative contents of heavy minerals in this area by statistical method and with sandstone isopach map, studied the provenance direction of different members in Shuangyang Formation of Luxiang fault depression. The results show that during the deposition of the Member 1 in Shuangyang Formation there were three provenance directions in southwest, south and east;during of the Member 2 in the Formation there were four directions in east, south, southwest and northwest;while during of the Member 3 in the Formation there were two directions in east and northwest. The provenance supply in northwest and south presented the characteristics ofweak-strong-weak during the deposition of Shuangyang Formation, and the supply was constantly weaken in east. The scale of depositional system was controlled by depositional velocity.
