Abstract

Objective To compare clinical effects of four intubation techniques for difficult airway.Methods120cases with difficult airway of oral maxillofacial surgery were divided into four groups. They were selected to undergo awake intubation with different techniques.Group1received traditional blind intubation technique,group2received a retrograde intubation technique,group3received a new blind intubation technique,group4received a fiberoptic laryngoscope intu-bation technique. The effects of intubation, the changes of circulation and respiration and the complications were evaluat-ed.Results The successful rates of the four groups were76.7%(23/30),93.3%(28/30),100%(30/30)and100%(30/30),re-spectively.Group1was obviously lower than the other groups(P0.05).The rates of more than two attempts to success in the four groups were65.2%(15/23),7.1%,6.7%and10%.Group1was obviously higher than the other groups(P0.05).The times to intubation of the four groups were(12.1±8.6)minutes,(4.2±1.3)minutes,(3.9±2.1)minutes and(3.7±2.2)min-utes.Group1was obviously more than the other groups(P0.05).There were no changes of circulation and respiration during intubation. No severe complications were observed. Conclusion To master the four techniques with different characteristics can help to improve the synthetic management level for difficult airway
