The Application of the Transthoracic Echocardiography for Transcatheter Closure of Atrial Septal Defects

Abstract

Objective To discuss the clinical value of the transthoracic echocardiography(TTE) in the transcatheter closure of atrial septal defects(ASD).Method There were 35 cases of ASD underwent the transcatheter closure with the guidance of TTE.Results 35 cases of ASD got all enveloped at the first attempt.The diameter of the occluders had good associativity with the diameter predicted by the TTE,with r=0.94,P0.05.Conclusion It plays an important role of the TTE in the transcatheter closure of ASD,with advantages of accurate estimation of ASD diameter,guiding the plugging process and monitoring the complications.
