Effects of Compound Chinese Herbal Medicine on Growth Rate and Immune Function of Broiler Chickens

In order to provide a scientific basis for Chinese herbal medicine as additive in broilers feeding,astragalus,rhubarb,lanceolata and coptis chinensis were combined in certain proportion based on the traditional Chinese veterinary medicine principle and used as additive in broilers feeding.In this study,chickens' growth rate,feed conversion ratio,antibody titer against Newcastle disease virus(NDV) and subtype H5N1 of Avian Influenza virus(AIV) were detected.The results showed that the growth rate of broilers fed with Chinese herbal medicine mixture was very significantly higher than the experiment control broilers and commercial feed control group.Feed conversion ratio detection showed the Chinese herbal medicine mixture could improve the feed conversion ratio but there' s no obvious difference among the experiment and experiment control group,but compared with the commercial feed,the feed added Chinese herbal medicine mixture has a higher feed conversion ratio and the difference was extremely significant.The Chinese herbal medicine mixture could very significantly improve the titer of antibody against NDV and H5N1 subgroup AIV.
