Abstract
Objective:To investigate the effect of telmisartan on microalbuminuria in the patients with hypertension.Methods:81 cases of hypertension were randomly divided into two groups.41 patients in telmisartan group(A) orally took telmisartan 80mg,once a day, while 40 cases in mlodipine group(B) took oral amlodipine 5 mg,once a day.The antihypertensive effects and the change of microalbuminuria were observed and compared between the two groups. Results:After treatment, the systolic and diastolic blood pressures were significantly lower than those before treatment(P0.05 or P0.01).In the group A,systolic blood pressure decreased more significantly. After 1-month treatment, urinary albumin in both groups had significant difference compared with before treatment(P0.05).However,no significant difference existed between the two groups(P0.05);After 3-month treatment, the decrease of microalbuminuria in the group A was more obvious than that of the group B(P0.05).Comparison of renal function before and after treatment in both groups showed no significant difference(P0.05).Conclusion:Telmisartan and amlodipine can reduce microalbuminuria for short-term in hypertensive patients. But for the long-term observation of patients with hypertension, telmisartan is superior to amlodipine in reducing urinary protein.
