Abstract
Objective To study the characteristics of distribution of rotavirus G/P genotyping among children with diarrhea in Anhui province. Methods Total of 307 stool specimens were collected from hospitalized patients less than 5 years old with diarrhea from January to December 2011.Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) was used to detect rotavirus antigen.Rotavirus-positive specimens were detected by reserve tanscription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) to determine the G and P genotypes of rotavirus. Results Of the 307 specimens,48 were detected to be positive.Genotyping of rotavirus showed that G3 was predominant strain(47.91%),followed by G9(27.08%),G1(16.67%),Gmix(14.58%),G2(6.25%) and G4(2.08%).P-genotyping showed that P[8] and P[4] was 62.67% and 8.33% respectively. The most common G/P combination identified was G3P[8].Conclusion Rotavirus G3P[8] was the predominant type of diarrhea among children in Anhui.G9 was the second predominant type and Gmix has been found in the region.
