Clinical observation on 40 patients with IgA nephropathy treated by the combination of TCM and western medicine

Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect of the combination of TCM and western medicine on IgA nephropathy complicated by proteinuria. Methods 40 patients in control group were treated with glucocorticoids,tripterygium wilfordii polyglucoside ,ACEI and so on; the other 40 patients in treatment group, on the basis of control group, were treated with Suchandihuang decoction,with a treatment course of 30 days for both groups. The therapeutic effects were evaluated after three successive treatment courses. Results The total effective rate was 67.5% in control group and 92.5% in treatment group, there was a significant difference between two groups (P0.01). There were also significant differences in 24h urinary albumin and erythrocyte number between two groups (P0.01). Conclusion The combination of TCM and western medicine can increase the therapeutic effect on IgA nephropathy complicated by proteinuria.
