Abstract

Objective To explore the strategies of risk management for wound infections in outpatients. Methods Three hundred and eighty four patients were recruited in this study according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The potential and existent risk factors of wound infection were assessed with the methods of interview, physical assessment, wound assessment and diagnostic laboratory tests.According to the risk factors of wound infection, the patients were divided into high-risk group and low-risk group and received supervision and management from the aspects of system, nursing flow and process,as well as environment. The wound infection rate and cured rate were recorded and compared between the two groups.Result In the 67 cases with clean wounds,no one suffered from infection. The infection rate of dirty wounds in high-risk group and low-risk group were 2.59% and 2.12% respectively. The cured rate of clean wounds, dirty wounds in high-risk group and low-risk group were 100.00%,96.67%,and 97.87% respectively. There was no significant difference in the cured rate between the two groups. Conclusion The risk management of wound infection can reduce the wound infection rate and increase the cured rate.
