Abstract
Chitosan/poly(acrylic acid) (CS /PAAc) copolymer hydrogel was prepared by E-beam irradiation of mixed aqueous solution of chitosan and acrylic acid. The effect of pH, composition and irradiation dose on the equili- brated swelling ratio of the hydrogels was determined. Experimental results show that the hydrogels swelled well in both lower pH (pH≈1) and higher pH (pH6), however, they shrunk in the range of pH 2—5.
