Problem of Aesthetic Modernity in the Linguistic Context of the Chinese Language

This article attempts to break through the academic model that China equals to tradition, while the West is modernity. Regarding romanticism in Chinese modern literature as the main target of observation, it reveals the cultural origin, concrete cannotations and historic significance of aesthetic modernity in Chinese linguistic context, starting with close relation of romanticism and aesthetic modernity. With this article, the author explains that aesthetic modernity is not merely a unique culture phenomenon of the West, but also a problem existing in the course of Chinese aesthetic development. When observing Chinese aesthetic modernity problems, however, we should not only have the west in mind, but consider the factors of Chinese literature as well. Meanwhile, we should take into consideration the influence of foreign culture on Chinese romantic writers and pay attention to the literary attitudes and the effect of national cultural succession on modern writers. 
