Abstract

As one of the three famous ministers in Xian Feng and Tong Zhi resurgence era., Hu Linyi showed his outstanding ability in managing Guizhou and Hubei. By suppressing Taiping Heavenly Kingdom in Hubei, he showed his outstanding military ability. The article talks about his skills with both pen and sword to have a better understanding of his thoughts and ability. And this also provides material for the further study of the Xiang army and modern Chinese history.
