Abstract
Metaphor is widely used in Scientific English as a cognitive phenomenon. Many basic words are converted to technical terms through metaphorical way, while nominalized grammatical metaphor makes Scientific English more abstract, precise, objective and informative. Both lexical metaphor and grammatical metaphor constitute the major components of metaphorical discourse of Scientific English.
