Abstract

The antioxidant activities in vitro of different extracts from Incarvillea argute were detected by the deoxidization Fe3+ reaction system, salicylic acid method as well as DPPH free radical(DPPH·) method in the present work.Extracts were obtained by treating material of I.argute with 80% aqueous ethanol, subsequently, were extracted with petroleum ether, chloroform, ethyl acetate and n-butanol.Different extracts were obtained respectively from corresponding extracts and water layer extract.Raw polysaccharide was obtained from water extract using ethanol precipitation. All of the extracts had strong deoxidization ability of Fe3+,in which ethyl acetate extract showed the high deoxidization ability, but weaker than that of Vitamin C.The raw polysaccharide,n-butanol extract and water extract had weak scavenging effect on the hydroxyl free radical, while other extracts had no activity. The strong anti-DPPH free radical activity was observed from the different extracts, and ethyl acetate extract demonstrated the best scavenging effect on DPPH free radical. Therefore, the extracts from I.argute had antioxidant activities in vitro, especially anti-DPPH free radical effect, which provided scientific evidences for Miao Minzu medicine with anti-inflammatory effects.
