Abstract
This article attempts to introduce the concept of meaning parameter into literary translation criticism,centered on five of its types analyzed in the latest Chinese translation of Wuthering Heights,in order to prove that verbal faithfulness alone does not necessarily bring about the best translation and that extra-textual elements are of the equal importance as the textual ones.
