The Making of Development Model for Sustainability with Chinese Characteristics under the Guidance of Scientific Concept of Development——The Theoretical and Strategic Framework of Building up a Harmonious Socialist Society

The soul of development model is the overall concept of development. In fact, it embodies certain ideas and values, which find expressions in various areas and on different levels. In realms of operation and practice, it manifests itself as specific path, techniques, and approaches, as well as policy design and development strategy. The strategy and contemplation, as put forth by China for the promotion of coordinated sustainable development under the guidance of Scientific Thinking, has given new meaning and fresh orientation to both the concept of sustainability and the making of development model. Starting from a historical survey and theoretical formulation, the present paper makes a comprehensive exploration to the making of development model under the guidance of Scientific Concept of Development, and puts forward some policy and strategy recommendations for constructing a sustainable development model with Chinese characteristics and building up a harmonious socialist society in terms of system of indicators, institutional mechanisms and development strategy.
