Awareness of Basic Public Health Services in Community Residents in Guangdong Province in 2011

OBJECTIVE To understand the implementation of basic public health service project in community health service centers in Guangdong Province; to investigate the prevalence of awareness of basic public health service projects in community residents; to provide the references for implementation of basic public health service in the future. METHOD According to the geographical distribution, 5 cities from East Guangdong (Heyuan),West Guangdong (Zhaoqing),North Guangdong (Shaoguan)and Middle of Guangdong (Dongguan and Huizhou)were selected , 2 community health centers in each city were selected to carry out the survey. RESULTS 776 residents were enrolled in the survey, the awareness rate for basic public health service project is 78.1%, the highest awareness rate is resident health file management(79.5%), the lowest one is holergasia patient management(51.4%). The awareness rate is different in residents in different districts. CONCLUSION The awareness rate of basic public health service project is high in community residents in the Guangdong Province. Thus the basic public health service project shows success. However, development unbalances were found in different districts and different projects, for example the holergasia patients management.
