On Wai-lim Yip's Modern Interpretation of Taoist Aesthetics

As a persistent pursuer of Taoist aesthetics,Wai-lim Yip makes great contribution to its interpretation and dissemination in overseas academia.Before he had succeeded in stepping into the threshold of Taoist aesthetics study,Wai-lim Yip had learnt modern poetic techniques during 1930s and 1940s,traced the aesthetic resources of Chinese poetics and classic Chinese poetic theories,and also made careful research on modern western poetics by focusing on some great representatives like Eliot and Pound.He interpreted Taoism both in the perspective of comparative poetics and in the context of western postmodernity,greatly manifesting the modern value and world significance of Taoist aesthetics.What's more,his modern interpretation of Taoist aesthetics,namely,'Growth Order' as he called it,could not only make clear the origin of spirit and the thread of thoughts for the Yip Aesthetic Exploration,but also reveal the tension of Taoist aesthetic which enables it to devivatively develop itself and keep pace with the times.
