Abstract

Objective: To study the activity against Parainfluenza Virus - 3 of the Active Compound (GC3 - 1 - 4) from Radix Glycyrrhizae in vitro. Methods: The active component GC-3-1-4was extracted from Glycyrrhiza by hot water extraction, ethanol precipitation and column chromatography. The inhibitory effect was observed in Hela cells using Ribavirin as a positive control. Results: The median toxic concentration (TC50), median efficacious concentration (EC50) and treatment index (Tl)of GC3-1-4 were 144.17μg/ml,12.82μg/ml, 11.25, respectively. It showed inhibitory activity on PIV when GC3 - 1 - 4 was added Oh, 2h, 4h, 6h after infections. Conclusion: The study suggested that the GC - 3 - 1 - 4 has an obvious inhibitor to Parainfluenza Virus - 3 in Hela cell culture.
