The Establishment of Contemporary Literary Theory and Orientation of Western Literary Theory

By the perspection of unique concept, category and preposition of Chinese Ancient Literary theory and its unique way of thinking and expressing, this essay illustrates that Chinese Ancient Literary theory has both modern value and an effect on Western Literary Theory and besides, it is also the source of higher level comtemporary literary theories. If Chinese Ancient Literary theory wants to find a place in the Comtemporary Literary Theory, it should be modernised. The crux is to derive what is good from Western Literary theory, cast off its control and establish new theories. The modernisation of Chinese Ancient Literary theory at the meantime depends on the continued work of Chinese Literary theorists.
