Abstract
Objective To evaluate the efficacy of repeated endoscopic u re throtomy for treatment of male urethral stricture. Methods The outcomes of repeated endoscopic urethrotomy in 296 male patients with urethral s tricture were analysed. Results The surgery was suuessful in 261 patients (88.2%),of whom 217 under went a single operations,32 twice operation, a nd 12 three times operations. The surgical intervention repeated more than three times failed in 35 patients(11.8%),of whom 26 were treated with memory alloy sp iral stents, and 9 required opensurgery. Conclusions Endoscopic u rethrotomy is an efficacious treatment for male urethral stricture, but repeated operation is of limited value.
