Abstract
Catalytic activity of six inorganic salts in the esterification of acetic acid with isoamyl alcohol was studied. Results showed that catalytic activity of titanium sulphate was the best. Under the optimum condition, the transformation rate was more than 99%, with molar ratio of acetic acid to isoamylol 1.05∶1, reaction temperature 145℃, reaction time 90 min and the amount of titanium sulphate 2.0%. The catalyst could be recovered easily and used repeatedly.
