Abstract
Ethyl salicylate was synthesized with salicylic acid and alcohol as materials and p-toluenesulfonic acid supported by activated carbon as catalyst. The effect of reaction time, molar ratios of alcohol to salicylic acid, and catalyst dosage were investigated. The optimum conditions were obtained as followed:under the reflux temperature 90~95℃,reaction time 4h,the mole ratios of alcohol to salicylic acid was 4:1,the dosage of catalyst was 8%of the total mass of the reactant efficiency. The yield of ethyl salicylate was 34.9%,and the catalyst could be repeatedly used.
