Abstract
Objective To observe the changes of serum levels of macrophage migration inhibitory factor(MIF),tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) and interleukin-1β(IL-1β) in newborn infants with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy(HIE),and to explore their roles in HIE.Methods There were collected 94 children with HIE from Jan.2007 to Jun.2010,including male 51 cases, female 43 cases;gestational age was(38.76±1.35) weeks;birth weight was(3.34±0.58) kg;which included 38 cases mild,31 cases moderate and 25 cases severe HIE.At the same time,32 normal newborns were selected as normal control group.Serum levels of MIF,TNF-α and IL-1β were detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay in 2 groups, correlation analysis was performed between MIF and TNF-α and IL-1β in children with HIE.Results Serum levels of MIF,TNF-α and IL-1β in HIE group were significantly higher than those in normal control group(Pa0.01).Compared with normal control group, levels of MIF,TNF-α and IL-1β in mild, moderate and severe HIE patients were markedly increased(Pa0.05).The differences among 3 groups were also significant(Pa0.05),and they were the highest in patients with severe HIE.There were positive correlation between MIF and TNF-α and IL-1β in HIE patients(r=0.76,0.89,Pa0.01).Conclusions MIF,TNF-α and IL-1β may be involved in the pathogenesis of HIE.Combined detection of these three factors has great referential value in assessing the severity and predicting the prognosis of HIE.
