Causes and Countermeasures of Income Gap between Urban and Rural Residents

Since the implantation of the policy of reform and open,the levels of income in urban and rural areas have increased,while the income gap has obviously enlarged.As an important standard to measure the income difference of the whole country,the Gini coefficient is not suitable for measuring the income gap between urban and rural residents.In this paper,the author adopted the data of the income and consumption of urban and rural residents and the Engel coefficient to historically survey on the difference between urban and rural residents' income level,consumption level and consumption structure;then,he expanded the situation,causes and countermeasures of the income difference among the residents in our country.
