Abstract
Objective To study the effect of Epigallocatechin-3-gallate(EGCG) on matrix metalloproteinase 9(MMP-9) in human colon cancer cell line HT-29 in vitro. MethodsIn vitro, the MMP-9 mRNA and protein expression in human colon cancer cell line HT-29 was analyzed by RT-PCR and Western blot. ResultsIn vitro, human colon cancer cell line HT-29 was treated by EGCG in various concentrations(25,50,100μg/ml). After 48 hours, the expression of MMP-9 mRNA and protein in human colon cancer cell line HT-29 were gradually decreased with the increasing dose of EGCG(P0.05).ConclusionEGCG could inhibit the expression of MMP-9 in HT-29 cell in vitro and in dose dependent manner, and maybe it is one of the mechanizms of the anti-tumor effect of EGCG.
