Abstract

There are three sets of main source rocks for the Lower Cretaceous in Chagan Sag,Yin-E Basin. In this study, theo rganic carbon’s component and stable isotope are analyzed;at the same time, the organic matter’s abundance, type and maturity are explored;and the hydrocarbon-generating potential is evaluated. Results show that in these source rocks,Ba 2 Member, mainly composed of dark-gray and grey-black mudstone,is an important oil-producing layer. In this reservoir, the abundance of organic matter is high, the type is dominantly Ⅱ1,and the thermal evolution degree is in middle to high maturity, mostly in over maturity. However, for source rocks in both Su 1 and Ba 1 members, theira bundance is not very high and the type is mainly Ⅱ2;and theser eservoirs belong to middle to bad ones. After a comprehensivee valuation,it is demonstrated that the main source rocks in this are a have a better hydrocarbon-generating potential.
