Abstract

‘Golden Orchid'is a new early-ripening triploid seedless watermelon by crossing tetraploid line 950002LY as female parent with diploid line CL as male parent.It has middle-early maturity,set fruit easily.The average fruit weight is about 2.4–3.0 kg.The fruit is round with green skin and dark-green stripes.The flesh is yellow with small seed traces,fine texture,crisp and sweet flavor.The center soluble solids content is over 12%.The flesh citrulline content is 2.8 mg · g-1.The cultivar has good adaptability and it is suitable for long distance shipping.
