On the Change,Reasons and Influences of the Relationship Between Liang Fan and the Tang Dynasty

Liang Fanmeans khitan and Xi.They both developed a complicated relationship with the Tang Dynasty.On the one hand,they were submitted to the Tang Dynasty and fulfilled more obligations,and got stable development due to its favorable policies,which made them more loyal on the other hand,there were many wars between them,especially in the latter part of the Tang Dynasty which destroyed their harmonious relationship.The change of the complicated relationship was caused by many inner and outer reasons.The inner reasons—their own interest of development and the nature of nomad nationality—were basic,while the outer reasons mainly come from the attraction of the stable agricultural economy,the national thoughts and policies of the ruling class of the Tang Dynasty,and also from the influence of the powerful minorities in the north.Liang Fan was very important in geography,so their attitude to the Tang Dynasty had great influence on the safety、stability and development of the borderland,on the control of northeast districts by the administrative office of the Tang and on the defense of Turkey and Huihe.Meanwhile,it also greatly influenced the economic development,social formation and the political status in the northeast of their own.
