Abstract

Objective:To observe the effect of acupuncture on Bax of hippocampal neurons in ischemia side and Learning and Memory in cerebral infarction rats. Methods:Of 80 male rats,48 rats were made into cerebral infarction models from by occlusion of the middle cerebral artery with clew. These were then divided randomly into 2 groups:control group(24 rats) and acupuncture group(24 rats). The expression of Bax of hippocampal neurons in ischemia side were detected by immuno-histochemistry,and the ability of Learning and Memory were evaluated by Y-maze.The data were analyzed by one-way analysis of variance,T-test and q test. Results:In 1,2 and 3 weeks group, the times of Y-maze,the positive expression of Bax and apoptosis index in hippocampus CA1 region in control groups exceeded that of acupuncture groups(P0.05).Conclusion:The ability of learning and memory in cerebral infarction rats was improved by acupuncture, which may be accomplished by decreasing Bax expression in hippocampus CA1 region, then protecting hippocampus cells from apoptosis.
