Abstract

The catalytic spectrophotometric determination of trace chromium (Ⅵ) has been investigated. This method is based on the Cr(Ⅵ) can catalyze the decolouring oxidation reaction of arsenazo Ⅰ by H 2O 2 in the medium of sulphuric acid. The linear range of measurements is 0.5-12.0 μgCr(Ⅵ)/25mL and the detection limit is 6.4×10 -12 g/L. The proposed method has been successfully applied to the determination of Cr(Ⅵ) in water, steel and aluminum alloy samples.
