Effects of taurine on the AngiotensinII and Aldosterone concentration in plasma and myocardium in renovascular hypertensive rats

Abstract

Objective To investigate effects of taurine on the AngiotensinⅡ(AngⅡ) and Aldosterone(Ald) concentration in plasma and myocardium in renovascular hypertensive rats. Methods Two kidney 1 clip (2K1C) rats were used to reestablish the model of renovascular hypertension.24 male Wistar rats were averagely divided into three groups at random: Sham group, 2K1C group and Tau treated group(50mg/kg.d,ig×8w) . The systolic blood pressure (SBP), left ventricular weight index (LVWI), myocardial collagen concentration, myocardial fiber diamension,AngⅡ and Ald content were determined. Results Compared with sham operated rats ,the SBP, LVWI, myocardial collagen concentration, myocardial fiber diamension,AngⅡ and Ald content in plasma or myocardium were significantly increased in 2K1C rats ( P 0.01). Taurine have an obvious suppressive effect on the above mentioned indices ( P 0.001). Conclusion Taurine whic effectively suppress myocardial cell hypertrophy and collagenous fiber productive reaction by decreasing plasma and myocardial local RAAS can produce good preventive effect on left ventricle hypertrophy caused by renal hypertension.
