On Yuan Mei's Ideas on Parallel Prose Based on His Articles on Parallel Prose

Yuan Mei's ideas on parallel prose based on his articles on parallel prose were mainly divided into two aspects,namely respect for the style of Ci(a type of classical Chinese poetry,originating in the Tang Dynasty and fully developed in the Song Dynasty) and advocacy of the style popular in the Six Dynasties.His idea of respect for the style of Ci could be regarded as the advocacy of the equivalence in terms of the relationship between parallel prose and pre-Qin classics,or the justification and distil of parallel prose in terms of parallel prose itself.His ideas on parallel prose was obviously transitional,which took over from the past and set a new course for the future,and drove the development of the theories on parallel prose and the prosperity of creation in parallel prose field.
