Abstract
Objective To investigate the distribution of class I integron in Klebsiella pneumoniae isolated clinically, and analyze the impact of the integron on bacterial resistance. Methods Susceptibility? tests were performed on 127 Klebsiella pneumoniae clinical isolates by K-B disc diffusion method. Drug resistance was analyzed by WHONET 5. 6. The class I integron in the 127 Klebsiella pneumoniaes was detected by polymerase chain reaction; Comparison of the resistance was conducted between the class I integron positive strains and negative strains. Results There were 53 strains( 41. 7%) of Klebsiella pneumoniaes containing the class I integron,which showed higher resistance to aminoglycosides,quinolones and most beta lactams than the integron-negative strains. Conclusion Class I integrons are widespread in Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates,which make it easier for them to acquire drug resistance.
