Abstract
Objective To explore the effect of uvulopalato-pharyngoplasty on quality of life in patients with obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS).Methods One hundred and thirty five patients with OSAHS were performed the operation of uvulopalatopharyngoplasty and the calgary sleep apnea quality of life index(SAQLI)questionnaires were completed before and after operation three and eighteen months later. It contained daily functioning, social interactions, emotional functioning and symptoms and health-related body mass index(BMI) and abdomen circumference.Sleepiness was assessed with epworth sleepiness scale and the polysomngraphy(PSG) was monitored in patients. Results It was statistical significance in total scores of SAQLI and other indexes of the patients. Conclusion Health-related quality of life in patients with OSAHS can be improved effectively following uvulopalatopharyngoplasty.
