Abstract
Butanone glycol ketal was synthesized from butanone and ethylene glycol in the presence of ceric sulfate hydrate. The factors influencing the synthesis were discussed and the best conditions were found out.The optimum conditions are as follows:molar ratio of butanone to ethylene glycol was 1∶1.4,the quantity of catalyst was equal to 0.4% of feed stock, and the reaction time was 1.0 h.Ceric sulfate hydrate was an excellent catalyst for synthesizing butanone glycol ketal and its yield can reach over 73.6%.
A significance statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
