The diagnostic value of video EEG monitoring in patients with epilepsy

Abstract

Objective:To explore the diagnostic value of video EEG monitoring in patients with epilepsy.Methods:Video EEG monitoring was performed in 39 patients with seizures,results were analyzed comparatively with regular EEG.Results:REEG was normal in 28 cases(71.8%),abnormal in 11 cases(28.2%),epileptiform discharges was detected in 8 cases(20.5%),clinic seizures were observed in 1(2.5%).However VEEG was normal in 11 cases(28.2%),abnormal in 28 cases(71.8%),epileptiform discharges was detected in 24 cases(61.5%),clinic seizures were observed in 10(33.3%).Conclusion:Video EEG might have important value in the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of the patients with epilepsy.
