Abstract

Experiments were conducted to study the genetics for growth and basic wood traits of the 2nd generation seed orchard progeny test stand which was 23 years old.The results showed growth was controlled by genetic factors, slightly.Family and individual heritability of tree height was 0.043 and 0.014 2 respectively. That of DHB was 0.157 and 0.061 8 respectively. That of volume was 0.121 and 0.044 5 respectively. There were not significant differences on wood density, red wood rate, skewed core rate, tree bark rate, among families.12 superior families and 9 superior individuals were selected based on volume.Average volume genetic gain of superior families and individuals was 14.90% and 16.49%,respectively.Selected families and individuals were good breeding materials.
