Expression of matrix metalloproteinase-10 in endometrial carcinoma

Objective:To explore the expression of MMP-10 in normal endometrium,atypical hyperplasia and endometrial adenocarcinoma and understand the relation of MMP-10 expression and the extent of infiltration,histological grade and clinical stage of the disease.To clarify the role and significance of MMP-10 in the pathogenesis,invasion and metastasis of endometrial adenocarcinoma.Methods:The expressions of MMP-10 were detected by immunohistochemistry in the tissues of 12 cases of normal endometrium,12 cases of atypical hyperplasia and 42 cases of endometrial adenocarcinoma.Results:The positive expression rate of MMP-10 w 76.2 % (32/42),33.3% (4/12) and 0(0/12) in endometrial adenocarcinoma,atypical hyperplasia and normal endometrium respectively.The intensity of MMP-10 expression decreased in proper order in endometrial carcinoma,atypical hyperplasia and normal endometrial.In addition,the statistical analysis showed the expression with significant difference in endometrial carcinoma,in atypical hyperplasia and normal tissue ( P 0.01).Conclusion:MMP-10 expression is related to histological grade,degree of myometrial invasion and clinical stage.It suggests that MMP-10 could be used as a marker of endometrial cancer.
