The clinical study of Donepezil in the treatment of Alzheimer`s disease

Objective:To observe the efficacy and safety of Donepezil in treating the mild to moderate Alzheimer`s disease.Methods:seventy-two patients with the mild to moderate AD were randomly divided into 2 groups: the Donepezil treated group(n=36),M21,F15,age(71.8±7.2)years and the control group(n=36),M23,F13,age(72.3±6.9)years.The patients for Donepezil treated group were treated with Donepezil tablets 5mg,po,qd,lasted one month,then treated with Donepezil 10mg,po,qn,two months.The patients for control group were treated with Vitamin E100mg,po,qd.The whole course of treatment for each group was 3 months.Mimimental state examination(MMSE),clinical dementia rating(CDR) and activity of daily living scale(ADL) were taken as the main value targets.Results:after 3 months,the marks of MMSE,CDR,and ADL of the treatment group were more improved than those of the control group(P0.01,respectably).Conclusion:Donepezil can prominently improve the cognitive function of patients with the mild to moderate Alzheimer`s disease.Moreover,its security and tolerability is good.
