Abstract
Objective: To observe the curative effect and safety on treating senile insomnia by traditional Chinese medicine combined western medicine. Method: Sixty-five patients suffered by senile insomnia were randomly divided into control group,oral administration estazolam and oryzanol,and traditional Chinese medicine combined western medicine group that was given Chinese patent medicine and the western medicine which was the same as that for the control group.The curative effect was observed by Pittsburgh sleep quality index( PSQI). Results: After 4 weeks treatment,the results were clinical cure 8 cases,excellent 10 cases,effective 15 cases,and no avail 2 cases in 35 cases of the traditional Chinese medicine combined western medicine group. The total effective rate was 94. 29%. While,in 30 cases of the control group,the results were clinical cure 1 case,excellent 6 cases,effective 14 cases,and no avail 9 cases. The total effective rate was 70. 00%. Each of clinical cure rate,no avail rate,and total effective rate is significantly different between the two groups( P 0. 05). The PSQI either at the immediate time point or at 2 week time point after the treatment is different between the two groups( P 0. 05). Conclusion: It is effective,persistent and safe that the senile insomnia is treated by traditional Chinese medicine combined western medicine.
