A Comparative Study on Huichang Suppression of Buddhism and Glandar-ma Persecution of Buddhism

Abstract

When Buddhism entered into China,there have been severe conflicts between Buddhism and China's native religions, and it has undergone various sufferings during its spreading and development in Han region.When Buddhism entered into Tibet,it also encountered exclusion from Ben.the native religion in Tibet.such as the Glandar-ma Persecution of Buddhism as we all know.This article selects two destructive events occurred in Han region and Tibet respectively.They are Huichang Suppression of Buddhism in Tang dynasty,and Glandar-ma Persecution of Buddhism in 841 AD.This thesis is tended to compare these two events,analyze their causes,processes and results,and then make several suggestions in the view of acculturation.
