Rare and Endangered Species Used for Landscape Planting in Guangdong(一)

In this paper,the definition,the significance and the general charcterisics of rare and endangered plants in Guangdong Province were given.According to the census,number of taxa and protection grades of rare and endangered plants in Guangdong and their distributions are described.A total of 58 rare and endangered species outside Guangdong belonging to 25 families and 44 genera and 18 rare and endangered species of 13 families and 15 genera native to Guangdong can be used for landscape planting in Guangdong.Other107 tree species of 94 families and 79 genera have potential to be applied.The Chinese and scientific names,key morphological characteristies,distributions,flowers and fruit periods are introduced.Three suggestions are put forward. It is useful information for the selection and application of rare and endangered plants in landscape planting of Guangdong Province.
