Abstract

Hybrid japonica rice Changyou 1 was machine-transplanted in three basic seedlings density,250 500,501 000 and 751 500 seedlings per hm~2.The tiller emerging rate and tiller earbearing rate were investigated. Results showed that colony of 501 000 seedlings per hm~2 had the highest effective panicle number and produced the highest grain yield. Most of tillers emerged and earbeared from 2/0,3/0,4/0,5/0,and 6/0 primarily and 1/2,1/3,and 1/4 secondary. With the increasing of basic seedling density, the number of tiller emerging and tiller earbearing decreased. And the upper position tillers had lower dry weight per stem, spikelet number per panicle and tiller earbearing rate, thus having less contribution to grain yield. This research indicated that seedling density has substantial influence on the tiller emerging and earbearing, and suggested that 501 000 seedlings per hm~2 was the optimal planting number for machine-transplanted hybrid japonica rice.
