Abstract
Objective To evaluate the application of case teaching method in clinical practice teaching for nursing undergraduate. Methods Totally 80 undergraduate nursing students, who practiced in the Department of Cardiology at the First Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University, were recruited in the study and randomly divided into experimental group and control group with 40 students in each group. Case teaching model was used in the experimental group, whereas traditional teaching method was used in the control group in clinical teaching. The internship was 10 weeks. At the end of the internship,we tested the two groups in theory and operation skill and used a questionnaire survey to evaluate satisfaction of the teaching method. Results Theory scores of nursing students were significantly higher in the experimental group than the control group. Similar results were obtained for operation skill and satisfaction of teaching method. Conclusion Case teaching method can improve the performance of nursing students in theoretical level and operation skill, enhance their ability and comprehensive quality in clinical practice, and thus should be promoted in clinical nursing teaching applications.
