An Analysis of the Meaning of Word "Heart" from the Metaphoric and Metonymic View

Abstract

Metaphors and metonymies are powerful cognitive tools.This paper tries to analyze the word heart from the metaphorical and metonic point of view,in order to find out the influence of the metaphor and metonymy on the word meaning,and to expose the powerful influence of the two.The analysis indicates that the meaning of heart increased gradually.This is also a justification of human being's cognitive ability.
